In Barbershop singing competitions, all ensembles are scored on three elements: Singing, Performance and Musicality. This last category is maybe the most difficult to grasp... It is about the right chords and bringing the musical and emotional interpretation of a song together. It is about tense and release, the wall of sound, swipes and much more.
Emma Shanks is an official Musicality Coach and Competition Judge. So she was the best pick to help us grow in Musicality. During the second of our series of four coaching weekends, she helped us with some major steps forward.
. Our preparation for this year’s contest in Helsingborg, Sweden
